Oden: Wednesday is known for Oden

Thor:His hammers name is Milneir.

Frigg: Went to many many lenths to protect her son balder, but failed.

Guawnyn(Lia): Goddess of Mercy, Chinese mythology 

Osiris: Married his sister Isis.

These are some of the many things I learned from the mythology unit about each character from my class, it was an informational and exciting unit in my opinion!:)

How I, Isis, gained Ra's Secret Name

I wanted it all. All the power of the earth, ruling over everyone. But someone was standing in my way, a power I needed to have to control the earth myself… I needed to learn Ra’s secret name. Ra is the almighty powerful god, who basically created the earth. I, Isis, wanted his secret name, so finally I could be all powerful. So I decided upon at plan, as Ra slept I sneakily walked, watching his form for signs of awakening, but there were none. I gathered his spit coming from his mouth as he slept, taking and pooling it in my hands. I left where he was sleeping towards the hot dry desert path Ra walked everyday lay ahead. Using the powers I already had, I mixed Ra’s spit into the dirt along the path forcing it to create something nobody, even me, could heal, without immense power. I formed a obfuscate serpent whose poison could hurt even the ‘almighty’ Ra. I then placed it along the path Ra walks everyday and waited. Until the sounds of yells and pure pain came through the halls, my snake had worked its magic, Ra was injured and enduring pain greater than he had ever felt before. I saunter over casually… the other gods had gathered around but none could help Ra and were confused as to how he had even gotten bitten. But I leaned in towards Ra, “I could heal you… but I need the power of your secret name to rid you of this pain.” Of course, Ra had to be difficult, he lied over and over again saying fake secret names that I knew had no point at all. I could tell he was fading fast and the pain was beginning to be unbearable for the old god… finally, finally he caved. I the almighty magical and powerful goddess, finally knew the secret name of Ra. I healed him, like I said I would, but now that I knew his name, I was the one with supreme power, not Ra. From this point on, I am the most powerful, I am the leader and I can use the power of the name to keep it that way.

resolution of the myth

The resolution of how Isis gained the secret name of Ra is, Isis healing the poison from the snake she hid along the trail and therefore gaining all the power she wanted from the knowledge of this name, Ra then had to leave Earth and walk the heavens because he had given up his secret name to Isis. This is the resolution because it tells how Isis ended up in the myth, gaining more power, and how Ra had to leave his spot on earth because another knew his secret name.

climax of the myth

The climax of my myth is when the pain becomes so unbearable for Ra after the snake bit him, that he is forced to tell Isis his secret name. This is the climax because it is the point where Ra releases his true name to another person therefore losing his ability to stay on earth. After he gives Isis the name she grows in her power, so that is why the climax was at the point where Ra released his name to Isis. 

conflict in the myth

 The conflict in the myth was Isis wanting to have more power than the the almighty powerful God Ra, and Ra suffering because he does not wish to tell his secret name to anybody on earth cause he would lose his spot as a man-form on earth.

myth characterization

The myth really builds characterization through the thoughts of the characters involved in the myth. Isis's cunning ability and want for power really comes out in the myth as she uses the magical skills she posses to create demon-like creatures with venom to harm even the strongest of gods. Ra's character is built from the strength and power his secret name can hold, and how he had the strength until the end to withhold from saying the words. The myth does well with bringing out the different personalities ways and thoughts of the different characters in the story of how Isis discovered Ra's secret name.

How Isis discovered Ra's Name- Setting

Sharp sand beneath feet. Dirt and moisture smell fill the air. A Blazing sun shines from up ahead. Paths stretching unseen across a vast landscape. Large pillars and cold dark grainy stone. The smell of sweat and heat. and crunching of stones and the slapping of sandals on cold bricks. Hazy light shining through, light winds rustling the sand about and drifting through arched walls.
